During his “Building The Ghana We Want” tour in the Bono East Region, John Dramani Mahama, the flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has made a significant promise regarding the 2020 election violence in Techiman South. If he emerges victorious in the 2024 polls, Mahama assures residents that a swift and comprehensive investigation will be conducted into the unfortunate events that transpired during the previous election.
Expressing his discontent with the Akufo-Addo and Bawumia government, Mahama criticized their alleged failure to hold accountable those responsible for the fatalities during the 2020 elections in Techiman South. He pledged that, if the NDC secures victory in the upcoming polls, a thorough investigation will be initiated, and all parties involved will be prosecuted.
Mahama underscored the importance of justice for all victims and their families in such instances. He stated that when elected president, he would prioritize addressing the Techiman case, ensuring that those found culpable are appropriately punished, and the right course of action is taken. Drawing attention to the disparity in response between the incidents in Techiman and Ejura, Mahama emphasized his commitment to rectifying this situation and delivering justice to the affected community.
